The Roadrunners were unable to come up with a few points when they visited Greeley for a rivalry showdown against the University of Northern Colorado, as they lost both games and will look to get back to winning ways this coming Friday in a special game against the CSU Rams taking place at the Pepsi Center in Denver, CO.
October 28th; Roadrunners fall 3-2
In the first game of the rivalry weekend with the bears, the Roadrunners came up short after outshooting their rivals 50 to 23. The first period would remain scoreless, but the Bears would get on the board first with Mitch McEwan, followed by a goal from Conner Osborne to increase the Bears lead to 2-0. The Roadrunners would cut the lead in half, with Jeff Moffat finding the back of the net with assists coming from Kevin Behrens and Ian Eshbaugh.
In the final frame of the game, the Bears would score first with a goal from Ethan Hicks a minute into the third period. The roadrunners would later score to bring the deficit to one with Jacob Reiner finding the back of the net with assists from Anthony Newsome and Robert Valdez. The roadrunners would continue to throw as many shots as they possibly could at the Bears, but were unable to tie it up and the Bears took the first game.
October 29th; Roadrunners Lose 2-1
This game would had about the same feel as the one the night before between these two rivals, as there were no goals in the first period. In the second period, the Bears would be the first team to find the back of the net with Cameron Taggart scoring the lone goal of the period.
In the final frame of the game, the Bears would score first coming off the stick of Anthony Cupples to make it a 2-0 lead for the Bears. The Roadrunners would be able to cut the Bears lead in half with John Naylor finding the back of the net, with assists from RJ Yusko and Christian Akita. Ultimately, the rally would come late and the Bears swept the Roadrunners in the two game series.
