Selection and Judging

Guidelines

The 2017 year will feature a September, October and November print issue all featuring submissions. We will also continue to publish some submissions on our blog. All artists/writers selected for publication will be notified by email. Turn-around time will be affected by the volume of submissions. Please submit your work using the email address at which it will be easiest/fastest to contact you.

Fall & Winter Issues: We continually evaluate your submissions for print publication in the first three issues, as well as advance publication on mymetmedia.com. As this is a student-run, student-funded publication, we want to publish as many MSU Denver students and alumni as possible. That being said, please keep in mind that space is limited. The earlier you submit, the more likely it is that it will be accepted for publication.

April Issue: Every spring semester, a panel of judges convene to select the best submissions for the final print publication. Each submission is scored based on predetermined criteria, including creativity, technique, and readability (for literary entries). For the 2014-2015 issue, the panel will include faculty associated with the university and special guest judges esteemed in their fields. This issue may also include the winners of Writes of Spring 2013-2014, as well as the winners of various other MSU Denver art/literary contests with which Metrosphere is associated.
